US Passports
Obtaining US passports doesn't have to be a long and tedious endeavor.
A little preparation goes a long way when it comes to the US passport
application process. A great place to start researching US passports
is on It’s Easy’s US Passport Instruction web pages,
where you will find an overview of the US passport application requirements
for obtaining a new, renewal, or replacement passport, or adding
additional visa pages to your passport.
US Passport Process
Using the normal mail-in us passport application process, it takes
between 3 and 12 weeks to get a US passport through the passport
agency, depending on the volume of applications. Even the US State
Department’s expedited US passport service takes up to 2 weeks
at its fastest. Without a US passport expediting service like It’s
Easy, the only way to get faster service is to make an appointment
at a passport agency. Fortunately, the State Department works with
us to deliver US passports in 1-5 days without making you go to
the agency yourself.
US Passport Requirements
All US passport services will require some proof of identity and
citizenship. For adult US passport renewals and adding visa pages,
your old US passport will work for both. You can submit your US
passport application documents to the passport agency or acceptance
facility directly through the mail, or in person if you make an
appointment, or you can send them to an expediter like It’s
Easy to get a US passport more quickly and easily.
US Passport Acceptance Agents
If you are getting an adult US passport for the first time, a child’s
passport, or replacing a lost, stolen, or damaged passport, you
will have to appear in person before an “acceptance agent”
who can verify your identity when you submit your application. You
will have to present the acceptance agent a valid state-issued ID
or a collection of accepted substitute documents if you do not have
any state-issued ID, along with the rest of your US passport application
documents. Once they have verified your identity, you can submit
your US passport application to the passport agency through them
or through an expediting service as described above. |
