Schengen Visas
Citizens of many non-US countries require Schengen visas for travel
to many European countries. A Schengen visa is a visa that is valid
for entry into multiple countries who are active members in the
Schengen visa treaty program. Originating in 1985, several European
countries signed the Schengen treaty allowing, among other things,
for a visa application who receives a Schengen visa to travel between
all Schengen visa country member countries without delay or the
need to acquire multiple visas. Schengen visas have gained popularity
as Europe has focused on it's "Travel Without Boarders"
initiative - the Schengen visa has played an integral role in this.
Schengen Visa Travel
Whether traveling between Schengen countries by land air or sea,
Schengen visa holders will note that boarder checkpoints have all
but disappeared. Immigration at major entry points such as airports
still exist for security reasons, but holders of valid Schengen
visas may enter and depart Schengen countries with little or no
delay. In the past, those without Schengen visa experienced long
delays at entry and exit points.

Often, Schengen countries will require that the Schengen visa applicant
appear in person at a consulate or embassy to apply for Schengen
visas. In some cases, certain embassies or consulates will allow
expediting firms to process Schengen visa applications on behalf
of Schengen visa applicants. Please review our FAQ: Schengen Visas
section for details on Schengen visas and Schengen visa processing.
